Training Topic: Two-Way Communications Systems - The Coming Evolution

Description: Whether it’s buildings, subways, tunnels, or office towers, maintaining continuity of critical life safety system wiring and components for live voice communication is paramount. With recent changes to the 2024 International Building Code and a forthcoming California State Amendment in the 2025 Triannual Code Cycle, it is essential that stakeholders stay informed and update their processes to ensure compliant system design and installation by the January 1, 2026 effective date.

This presentation will focus on the minimum standards for the design, installation, and inspection/testing of two-way emergency communication systems. It will also explore the evolving landscape of codes and standards—with particular emphasis on the changes impacting jurisdictions across California.
